Putin Orders Partial Military Call
Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered a partial mobilization of reservists in Russia, effective immediately. He risks a deeply unpopular step that follows humiliating setbacks for his troops nearly seven months after invading Ukraine. Its the first mobilization in Russia since World War II. Western backers of Ukraine derided the move as an act of weakness. The Russian leader also warned the West he isnt bluffing over using everything at his disposal to protect Russian territory, in what appeared to be a veiled reference to his nuclear arsenal. The partial mobilization came a day after Russian-occupied regions in eastern and southern Ukraine said they would hold votes on becoming part of Russia. Hundreds of people were arrested at protests across Russia.

Larger Office Will Better Serve Community
The Alzheimers Association Cleveland Area Chapter Avon office will relocate to 37309 Harvest Drive, Avon, OH 44011, effective August 1, 2017. The new location is off Colorado Avenue between Route 254 and Eaton Drive.
The current office at 38440 Chester Road will permanently close at 4:30pm on July 26.
Phone number fax number and office hours M-F 8:30am to 4:30pm at the new office remain the same.
The new space has a conference room providing the capacity to host support group and educational programs and more capacity for five staff members and volunteers. Walk-in visits are welcome.
The new Avon office will help us better serve our constituents and volunteers in Lorain County and western Cuyahoga County. Not only will we be able to host support group and educational programs in the new conference room, we will have expanded space for staff and volunteers. We look forward to continuing to serve individuals and families dealing with Alzheimers disease and other dementias in Lorain County in this beautiful space, said Nancy Udelson, chapter president and CEO.

Alzheimers Association In Avon Looking For Volunteers To Facilitate Area Caregiver Support Groups
Alzheimers Association provides support groups for caregivers.
AVON, Ohio — The Alzheimers Associations Cleveland Area Chapter is seeking volunteers to host its caregiver support groups.
At the Avon office, Kelly Donahue, marketing and communications manager for the Cleveland area, said, Group meetings are held once a month and are intended to give those who care for people with Alzheimers a chance to share their thoughts, emotions and resources.
Iqra Baig, program coordinator of care and support services, said the positions are open to nearly everyone.
We recommend that you have empathy, understand geriatrics or have a willingness to learn and have some sort of a connection to the disease,” Baig said.
A caregiver is anyone who is caring for someone with dementia or memory issues, Baig noted. Caregivers arent always hired professionals. They can be family members and are often spouses of those with the disease.
Groups usually consist of eight to 12 people and, for the most part, run themselves, Baig said. The support group validates concerns and can often suggest resources.
Gina Wittenberg, a volunteer support group leader in Rocky River, has worked with the Alzheimers Association since July. She has experienced the disease’s effects on her loved ones.
Dementia has affected my husbands mother and my father, Wittenberg said. Her Rocky River support group is small, meets on the last Thursday of each month and consists of about four regular attendees.
