In the lengthy statement, they went on to mention that when Bowlen had to resign in 2014, he wanted to ensure the teams success by appointing three non-family trustees to determine whether any of his children had become qualified at some point to step into his shoes.

ENGLEWOOD | Denver Broncos coaches ditched their usual navy and orange attire Wednesday for purple T-shirts as the franchise held its third annual Alzheimers Awareness Day.

Obviously its touched this organization in a deep way with the Bowlen family coach Vic Fangio said. You know, its a terrible disease and anything we can do to raise money to help cure this thing would be good.

Late owner Pat Bowlen stepped away from running the team in 2014 because of Alzheimers and died in 2019 one month shy of his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
