Nbcs Andrea Mitchell: I Have Breast Cancer
Andrea Mitchell, NBC’s chief foreign affairs correspondent and host of an eponymous MSNBC show, announced on Wednesday that she has breast cancer.
The 64-year-old Mitchell made the announcement at the end of her show, “Andrea Mitchell Reports.”
“And now a personal note, or how I spent my summer vacation: I had planned to be hiking in Wyoming last week,” Mitchell said, “but instead discovered that I am now among the one in eight women in this country–incredibly, one in eight–who’ve had breast cancer.”
“Mine was discovered during my annual screening just a short time ago,” she continued. “Luckily for me, I’m one of the fortunate ones. We discovered it in the earliest stage, it had not spread, and I’m already back at work with a terrific prognosis.”
Mitchell urged female viewers to get screened.
“I’m looking at this as another of life’s lessons,” she said. “For you women out there and for the men who love you, screening matters. Do it.”

The Elephant In The Room
Believe it or not, it wasnt such a big deal to talk about this stuff two years ago. Glenn Greenwald very clearly documented the way questions around Bidens mental capacity became low blows and disgusting only after he became the favorite to win the Democratic nomination.
Cory Booker pointedly brought it up on the campaign trail, telling CNN that he wasnt sure Biden had the mental fitness to endure the campaign. During one of the Democratic debates, Julian Castro asked Biden directly if he had forgotten what hed said just two minutes before. Rolling Stone writer Jamil Smith invoked his late family member, who died of dementia, to raise questions about what he was seeing from Biden. Andrea Mitchell asked her audience how sharp Biden was, or if he still had the stuff to be able to defend himself in a debate.
One Twitter user who was documenting all the prominent reporters and pundits questioning Bidens mental state in 2019 made a thread online. I checked it this week, only to find that about half the tweets had been deleted perhaps by people who are still reporting on the president and didnt want those old comments to circle back to them .
None of this, of course, means any of the speculation is true. It just means the reason Bidens cognitive state went from an open question to an off-limits territory is that people were worried he was going to lose to Trump, and questions about his mental capacities could play an outsized role in causing that loss.;
Therapeutic Strategies For Hospitalized Patients
Unfortunately, the PCC approach is challenging in hospital settings, given the short length of the patient stay and the necessity of rapid interventions . However, the presence of pain and intercurrent pathologic conditions has been associated with the onset of aggressiveness, anxiety, and agitation and should be addressed. Furthermore, the direct assessment of unmet needs in hospitalized patients, which is often less recognized and identified than expected, can provide a more time-effective approach in a clinical environment, according to the standards of Needs-driven care based on the Unmet Needs Model . Nonetheless, cognitively impaired patients may experience difficulties communicating feelings of discomfort, pain, and loneliness, thereby making the assessment difficult . In nursing homes or at the patient home, the Needs-driven care is ancillary to the PCC and the most successful given the presence of familiarity and closed relationships with the patients.

Mitchell’s comments came;after actress Heather Lind accused Bush of sexually assaulting her during a photo op four years ago.
A spokesman for Bush apologized for the incident on Wednesday.
President Bush would never under any circumstance intentionally cause anyone distress, and he most sincerely apologizes if his attempt at humor offended Ms. Lind, he;said.
At age 93, President Bush has been confined to a wheelchair for roughly five years, so his arm falls on the lower waist of people with whom he takes pictures, the statement said.
To anyone he has offended, President Bush apologizes most sincerely.”
Later Wednesday, a second woman accused Bush of groping her, saying she had a similar experience.

Romney’s Remarks At Wawa
Having been led to believe that a clip showed that presidential candidate Mitt Romney was impressed by a touchscreen at a Wawa convenience store, Mitchell and contributor Chris Cillizza laughed when it was shown on Andrea Mitchell Reports, alluding to a widely held myth that George H.W. Bush was unfamiliar with a supermarket scanner in an incident during his 1992 campaign. She suggested this might be Romney’s “supermarket scanner moment.” She said, “I get the feeling that Mitt Romney has not been in too many Wawas along the roadside of Pennsylvania.” The full clip puts his comments in the context of his claim that Wawa’s “touchtone keypads” show efficiency in the private sector compared to his statement that it took multiple filings of a 33-page government form for an optometrist to change his address.
Mitchell briefly addressed complaints from the Republican National Committee and Romney’s campaign the following day. Introducing the full clip, Mitchell stated, “The RNC and the campaign both reached out to us, saying that Romney had more to say on that visit about federal bureaucracy and innovation in the private sector. We didn’t get a chance to play that, so here it is now.”

Ha Look Who Was Caught Off Guard
Not too surprisingly, the media has been avoiding the Hunter Biden controversy like the plague.
But now with evidence mounting, their avoidance is just becoming more and more ridiculous.
Journalists claim they cant cover the New York Posts Hunter Biden email scoop because the underlying evidence has yet to been verified. Also, they wont look for any verifying evidence because there isnt enough evidence.
Its quite the conundrum.
Because other than the now-corroborated emails, the laptop, the on-the-record source who was a CEO of a Biden corporation, a trove of text messages and documents, and a lack of denials, the Hunter Biden email story reminds me of the Russian collusion story. Surely it deserves a modicum of scrutiny and follow-up.
Anyone who watched Tony Bobulinskis interview on Tucker Carlsons show this week apparently it pulled over 5 million viewers was confronted with a seemingly credible character. Bobulinski says he met with Joe Biden in 2017, and that the former vice president was intimately involved in the family business. Maybe someone will ask the candidate about this. Because Biden, widely seen as the frontrunner, has on numerous occasions emphatically denied any knowledge of what Hunter was doing. So even if he didnt benefit from his sons leveraging of the family name to strike deals with Chinese Communist energy interests, it is still newsworthy.

Agitation In Acute Medical Conditions: Differential Diagnosis With Dementia
In elderly patients, acute agitation can be the expression of a wide range of conditions, including medical, psychiatric, and substance-induced alterations .
Table 1. Differential diagnoses in case of dementia-related agitation and other conditions.
In addition to hyperkinetic delirium, which can also arise during the hospitalization of cognitively unimpaired older people , other acute neurological conditions, such as stroke , intracranial neoplastic masses or hemorrhages, meningitides, encephalitides, and head injuries, may generate agitation that can be the first or unique symptom of the underlying condition.
The ascertainment of a history of psychiatric illnesses is critical, as these conditions may often determine the onset of acute mental alterations, including agitated behavior .
Andrea Mitchell: Drunk Again
I really don’t know when any sense of journalistic shame is going to kick in with Andrea Mitchell.; There seems to be no limit to what she will say or do when the cameras are rolling, and the fact that the right is as angry as the left about her continued journalistic malfeasance in the CIA leak case means it has gotten pretty friggin’ bad. And it does not fall into the category of “well everyone is upset so she must be doing something right.” Wrong.; She’s a big, fat festering boil on the posterior of NBC that somebody needs to lance.
Despite the fact that the Libby defense team spent copious amounts of time trying to drag Mitchell into court to testify about her October 2003 statement to Alan Murray of CNBC to the effect that “It was widely known among those of us who cover the intelligence community and who were actively engaged in trying to track down who among the foreign service community was the envoy to Niger,” she still continues to report on the case.; And even though her reporting continues to be factually challenged, false and downright misleading, she just Will Not Shut Up.
For a withering analysis of Mrs. Alan Greenspin’s history of ethical lapses in this case, please read David Fiderer’s November 2005 piece in the Huffington Post.; It’s devastating.; But nothing could compare to the explanations she herself has given on Imus regarding the CNBC quote, which included this:;
“I must have been drunk.”

Dementia With Lewy Bodies And Parkinson’s Disease With Dementia
The first step in treating agitation of parkinsonian patients should be an accurate revision of current treatment. Dopamine agonists , monoamine oxidase inhibitors , and catechol-O-methyltransferase inhibitors, especially when associated with SSRIs or serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors , might increase agitation . Thus, careful reduction or redistribution of dopaminergic drugs should represent the first option for these patients.
George Hw Bush May Be Elderly That Doesn’t Excuse His Behavior
On Tuesday, on a very bad day in a very bad week during a very, very bad year, another sad story came to light: actress Heather Lind came forward and alleged that former President George H.W. Bush had groped her.
Soon after, New York actress Jordan Grolnick came forward with a similar story. Last night, Bush spokesman Jim McGrath released a statement, saying that the “93 year old” sometimes “patted women’s rears in what he intended to be a good-natured manner.”
While some called the statement the ultimate “non-apology,” others took it a different direction, either excusing his behavior or choosing to shame the women who complained about his groping for going after an elderly man.
Cue exhausted sigh.
For the victims’ critics, the women involved lacked empathy. As a 93 year old with Parkinson’s disease, George H.W. Bush couldn’t be held fully responsible for his actions. Some accused the victims of committing “elder abuse” and others chose a more traditional insult: shame.
“Mrs. Bush was at his side. He is in a wheelchair with Parkinson’s syndrome. Really? Someone should be ashamed and it isn’t 41,” NBC’s Andrea Mitchell opined.
This is quite a statement.
Jonathan Swan
It was bizarre, to say the least, to see shame used so freely against women by professionals and in such a public space.
Not end-of-the-world shameful, of course, not legacy-destroying shameful. Just shameful.

Andrea Mitchells Rumors Controversy
Andreas second marriage was rumored to crash when the lovebirds couldnt agree on each others opinion. At 68 years old, Mitchell wanted to adopt a baby, but Alan was not so intrigued by this. This was the reason that was rumored to have ended their relationship.
She was dragged to controversy when she leaked CIA operation officer Valerie Plames identity that led to her being questioned by the authorities. Mitchell was forcibly ejected from a room after asking Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir some pointed questions in 2005.
How The Hell Does Andrea Mitchell Still Have A Job At Msnbc
I dont enjoy being mean. I really dont. And some cable news pundits are, by definition, better at what they do than others. If I were one myself, Id be the worst one of all because its just not my arena. But everyone on the air, whether they offer anything of value to the news reporting process or not, seems to have a reason for being there. Some offer unique information. Some are charismatic. Some are just plain smart. Some arent great at their jobs but they have such great inside sources that its almost excusable. But why the hell does Andrea Mitchell have a job?
Im not picking on Andrea Mitchell at random. Its just that she keep forcing the question each time she appears in MSNBC or NBC News. This week, when Donald Trump and his surrogates began floating the desperate and thoroughly evidence-free suggestion that Hillary Clintons health might somehow be a problem, even the most controversy-loving cable news pundits all shot it down. Except for Mitchell, who decided to go ahead and speculate that Hillary might indeed have some unspecified health issue, while not bothering to back it up with anything. And this is pretty much all she ever does.
