Coconutketone therapy has the potential to stop the progression of Alzheimers, reverse it, and in some cases completely eliminate the disease.
Themedical research on coconut oil derived ketone therapy is remarkable. In onestudy for example, Alzheimers patients were split into two groups. Each groupwas given a beverage to drink. The beverage given to one group contained MCFAsfrom coconut oil, the other beverage contained the types of fatty acidsordinarily found in the diet. Ninety minutes later the investigators had thepatients take cognitive and memory tests. The results showed that thosepatients that consumed the beverage with MCFAs scored significantly higher onthe tests.

Dementia is a general term which describes an overall decline in mental ability that is severe enough to interfere with daily life. Alzheimers is the most well-known and most common type of dementia, although there are other less-common types of dementia.
While many people might accept that a decline in cognitive skills and memory is just part and parcel of the natural aging process, that isnt the case. Often, mental decline can be the result of small amounts of damage to the brain, which add up to noticeable mental impairments over time. And, while a dementia diagnosis can seem daunting, many people live well for years following their diagnosis.
In the hopes of preventing the onset and progression of dementia, people often turn to natural remedies, including vitamins. While the research isnt 100% in favor of any specific supplement or regimen, there are some vitamins and minerals that are said to offer cognitive benefits. Given that vitamin deficiencies can be a cause of dementia, it makes sense that supplementing is a popular alternative treatment choice.
Vitamins E and C
While vitamin D deficiency hasnt yet been found to be a direct cause of dementia, research shows there is a strong link between the two. Especially for those who dont live along the equator, supplementing with this essential vitamin may improve overall health and well-being. It also has benefits to the skeletal and cardiovascular system.

Doctors can prescribe it as a medical food in some countries but it is not yet available in the United States.
A recent randomized, controlled study of the effects of Souvenaid in patients with mild Alzheimers showed increased memory performance after periods of both 12 and 24 weeks.

Another great approach to improving cognition and overall wellness in those living with Alzheimers disease and related dementias is through psychosocial interventions. There are many ways to improve the quality of life and possibly dementia symptoms through social activities.
Those living with relatives have many opportunities for improving their lives through social interactions. Research into group activities involving reminiscing showed immediate improvements in mood within the participants, and caregivers reminiscing in casual settings with elders provides a wealth of mental benefits as well, such as increased happiness for both the carer and person with dementia.
Day programs, or aduly daycares, are places that care for a group of elders, often with varying degrees of dementia, for a fee. These programs generally run for the length of a full day, or half of a day, and provide all means and supplies that would be needed to care for the elders as well as entertain them. Research into these programs shows benefits for caregivers and those with dementia alike, as well as for those living in nursing homes.
Natural Remedies For Dementia And Alzheimers Treatment Option #: B Groupvitamins Vitamin D And Vitamin E
A study published in Proceedingsof the National Academy of Sciences revealed the B group vitamins, inparticular, vitamin B6, B12 and folic acid, can help slow the progression ofAlzheimers disease. What was stated in the article is quite exciting fordementia sufferers as well as those wanting to prevent the disease
“Thefact that B-family vitamins may play a significant role in dementia, or morespecifically in warding it off has been consistently illustrated. What is newsfrom the current study, however, is that high-dose B-vitamin treatment inpeople at risk for the disease ‘slowed shrinkage of whole brain volume,’ andespecially reduced shrinkage in areas known to be affected in Alzheimer’sdisease.”
Vitamin B3 and vitamin B6 are needed by the bodyto form neurotransmitters, making them crucial for the health and correctfunctioning of the nervous system and brain. B12 is essential for theproduction of substance known as myelin, the white sheath that surrounds nervefibers. The B group vitamins, especially folic acid, also help to reducehomocysteine levels in the body, another major precursor of dementia anddementia related diseases.

Removal Of Environmental Risk Factors
Environmental risk factors such as mold, biotoxins, pollution, and other environmental neurotoxins can greatly increase the risk for developing Alzheimers disease.
Neurotoxicants like heavy metals can build up in the body. As these neurotoxicants build up, they contribute to cognitive decline and impaired cognitive function in older adults. Regular exposure to these toxins increases the risk of Alzheimers disease.
Hormone imbalance may also be a significant risk factor for Alzheimers disease. Hormone replacement therapies may be an effective way to reduce this risk.
Natural Remedies For Dementia And Alzheimers Treatment Option #: Mineral Supplements
Minerals are commonly referred to as the sparks of life. They are what keep our body battery going and keep it charged. Minerals arealso needed by the brains electrical circuit to function properly. You maynot know this but your brain is one incredible and very intricate circuitboard. Every time you think a thought , little sparks and electrical currents are busyracing and crisscrossing each other in a dazzling and spectacular light show. Infact, while youre brains at work it’s actually producing enough electricity topower a light bulb!
So how it basically works is when you think a thought, that particular thought is then transferred or relayed to the area of the brainthat needs it by sparks or electricity. And minerals are one of the crucialcomponents that make this all happen and make the process run smoothly. Butwhen your brain lacks the minerals it needs for this process to work correctly, these sparks begin to jump in the wrong places. Or even worse, they dontjump at all! This is the beginnings and eventual progression of diseases suchas Alzheimers.

Donna Kaye Hill realized that her 80-year-old mother was faltering cognitively when her phone suddenly stopped working. When Ms. Hill called the phone company, they told me she hadnt paid her bill in three months.
Finding other alarming evidence of memory gaps, she took her mother, Katie, to a memory clinic. A geriatrician there diagnosed dementia and recommended two prescription drugs and a dietary supplement, a form of vitamin E.
Katie Hill dutifully took vitamin E capsules, along with a host of other medications, until she died four years later. As she declined, her daughter didnt think the vitamin, or the two prescription medications, was making much difference.
But if it doesnt hurt, if theres a chance it helps even a tiny bit, why not? she reasoned. Ms. Hill, 62, a retired public employee in Danville, Va., takes fish oil capsules daily herself, hoping theyll help ward off the disease that killed her mother.
Last month, the F.D.A. cracked down on this burgeoning market, sending warning letters or advisories to 17 companies selling about 60 supplements with names like Cogni-Flex and Mind Ignite.
