Meredith Messed With A Clinical Trial

Although Meredith has clearly proved her mother wrong, it’s actually a wonder that she has had quite as many chances as she did, given the number of stunts she has put up during the course of the show. To be fair, she had some good reasons to back her up every time.

In season 7, the world-famous neurosurgeon at Seattle Grace, Derek Shepherd , started working on a clinical trial to find a cure for Alzheimer’s. Meredith was chosen to assist him in the trial. As it happens, Meredith went and rigged the trial. Yes, that’s right. She interchanged the envelopes to make sure that Richard Webber’s wife Adele, who was fast-tracking into Alzheimer’s, was given the medication instead of the placebo. Commendable as her intent was, this was no doubt a gross violation of protocol.

Alzheimers And Greys Anatomy

When I wrote the other day about last weeks Greys Anatomy episode that addressed chemo and toxicity from herbal remedies, I seem to have started something. So many of you were interested in that question!

Not surprisingly, many are looking for more information, too, about Meredith Greys mother waking up from Alzheimers Disease. And a few people wrote to ask if its possible.

This is a tough one for me, because my mother is a victim of Alzheimers disease. We first noticed Moms problems almost 10 years ago. In early 2005 we moved her to a memory center in Sarasota, Florida. Dad, who has health challenges of his own, spends time with her everyday. She still recognizes him, and when we visited her in late December, she recognized my sisters and me, although she didnt know our names. It just absolutely breaks my heart.

And thats actually the reason I didnt/couldnt/avoided writing about it. In the story line, Merediths mother actually comes to. She remembers everything with great clarity prior to the past five years, including all the emotions and attitudes that went with her life before. Her personality recovered along with her memories. And in the case of Ellis Grey, thats what was so off-putting.

So, for those of us with a loved one who suffers from this horrid long good-bye showcasing the concept of recovery, even if its short-lived, is like holding out a carrot we have no way of grasping. Its just one more frustration.

I love you, Mom.

Lawsuit Pregnancy And Buying The Hospital

Does Maggie Have Alzheimer

All the survivors of the plane crash filed a lawsuit against the plane company. Their attorney informed the survivors that they would be pursuing action against the hospital instead of the plane company since the hospital put them on the plane. This alarmed the doctors. However, they decided to go ahead with the lawsuit, because Derek went to see the plane wreckage and believed if they settled, they wouldn’t properly investigate what went wrong so it couldn’t happen again to someone else.

The doctors went to trial and were awarded $15 million each. Callie decided that their win should be celebrated, and Meredith, Derek, Callie, Arizona, and Cristina all went to dinner to celebrate, where Meredith revealed that she was pregnant.

During Meredith’s pregnancy, Dr. Alana Cahill was brought to the hospital to assess efficiency, as the plane crash verdict forced the hospital into bankruptcy after its insurance refused to pay the penalties after finding a loophole. The doctors learned that Dr. Cahill was planning to clean up the hospital so that it could be sold to a company called Pegasus Horizons. But Richard and Callie conducted additional research of the company and learned that it would be a terrible asset to the hospital. They brought the survivors together for a secret meeting and discussed purchasing the hospital so they could maintain the hospital in which all the doctors had been trained and which they still loved.

Why Greys Anatomy’s Tragic Ending Theory Would Be An Insult

Revealing that Meredith has Alzheimers would be a depressing way to end Greys Anatomy, alienating fans and tainting the legacy of the character.

Greys Anatomy has a challenge ahead of itself when it finally crafts its ending, and one dark fan theory would be an insult to its devoted, longtime audience. Greys Anatomys title as the longest-running medical drama of all time continues to be upheld, with Ellen Pompeo inking a new deal bringing back the show for a returning character-packed Grey’s Anatomy season 18. Old favorites like Addison Montgomery and Megan Hunt will return, a sure sign that the show is heading into its endgame, and one theory of a particular tragic ending for Grey’s Anatomy and Meredith is a possibility.

Looking back at previous episodes foretells the shows direction for its final ever climax. Ever since Denny Duquette died shockingly in the finale of season 2, Greys Anatomy has proven that it is unafraid to kill off beloved characters. This penchant came to a head in season 11 when Derek was killed in a car accident. Some believed the show could not survive the departure of its male lead, especially since killing him was the most upsetting choice the show could make. However, Grey’s Anatomy had teased Derek Shepherd’s death for years. Ultimately, the writers understood how to craft a death for him that would allow Pompeo’s Meredith Grey and the audience to grieve but ultimately move on.

Meredith Rigs A Clinical Trial

Speaking of illegal AND immoral, Meredith pulls a stunt of her own back in season seven. Working with Derek on an Alzheimer’s trial, the two do a blind testing that would allow some patients to get the real meds, while the others get a placebo. It’s at this same time that Dr. Webber’s wife, Adele, is grappling with rapidly advancing Alzheimer’s, and Meredith is worried Adele might get the placebo instead of the medicine. So worried, in fact, that she tampers with Adele’s dose to make sure she gets the medicine. Alex finds out and narcs on her, but things work out in the end as they tend to do for the doctors on Grey’s.

Meredith would be so fired if she really did this. She might not even be able to step foot in a hospital if she rigged a national trial. She’d be disgraced and run out of the medical community. Forever.
