Since the passage of the GOP tax plan, dozens of companies across the US are offering raises and major bonuses for employees, but House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi says the employee benefits are just crumbs.

American Airlines announced that 130,000 employees would receive $1,000 bonuses, while AT& T announced that it would give 200,000 employees a $1,000 bonus. Bank of America, Comcast, Fiat Chrysler, JetBlue, and others have made similar announcements.

Wells Fargo announced the company would raise its minimum wage to $15 an hour, as did Fifth Third Bancorp in addition to $1,000 bonuses.

Walmart and Southwest Airlines recently joined the bunch. Walmart announced that it would give its employees $1,000 bonuses and raise the companys minimum wage to $11 an hour.

Southwest Airlines announced that it would give about $5 million to charities and give both full-time and part-time employees $1,000 bonuses.

The benefits of the tax cut are already obvious, but Nancy Pelosi says the bonuses and raises are just crumbs during her latest weekly press briefing.

With unbelievable hypocrisy, Pelosi called the wage increases and widespread bonuses pathetic.

Televangelist Pat Robertson wants everyone to know that Vice President Kamala Harris and House Speaker are actually the ones running the country and are, therefore, fulfilling a biblical prophecy.

Even though actual and authentic President Joe Biden sounded pretty chipper during his primetime speech televised to the nation Thursday evening.

But Robertson prefers to cast Bidens presidency in a negative light, claiming in a recently released clip that Biden is suffering from senile dementia. Robertson is no doctor, but this doesnt prevent him from presenting this as fact, HillReporter.com notes, even though Robertson and facts are two things that are frequently not acquainted.

Now it was time for him to start flinging Bible verses around, which he did to claim Harris and Pelosi are actually running the country. Unsurprisingly, he doesnt cite any actual evidence for this claim, nor does he mention how Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer fits into this equation.

Robertson read passages from the book of Isaiah from the King James Bible that were centered around corrupt leadership and societal collapse and said he could see the same thing happening here in the U.S. He focused on the Black Lives Matter protests that have occurred in recent years.

Putting The Experience To Work

Since her return, Hollister has become involved in a few important and far-reaching health initiatives.

Cal MediConnect is one of a series of federal demonstration projects across 11 states that explore better and more efficient ways to serve people whose health care needs are covered by two federal programs: Medicaid and Medicare.

Known as dual eligibles, these individuals often have a complex array of long-term care, mental health and general medical needs. According to the Cal MediConnect website, the program offers dual eligibles coordinated medical, behavioral health, long-term institutional, and home- and community-based services through a single organized delivery system.

Such coordination is of particular interest now, because its generally believed that its absence has compromised the health of the dual eligibles while costing state and federal governments more than many feel is necessary.

Hollister has been part of a multicampus team working on a planning grant to design an evaluation of the Cal MediConnect program. Based on input from stakeholders including policymakers, health plans, care providers and consumer advocates, this team is making recommendations for an in-depth evaluation of the Cal MediConnect program.

Fact Check: Drunk Nancy Pelosi Video Is Manipulated

A video circulating on social media shows House Speaker Nancy Pelosi speaking in a slurred and awkward manner. One popular post boasts 91,000 shares on Facebook and bears a caption reading: This is unbelievable, she is blowed out of her mind, I bet this gets taken down! The video, however, has been manipulated to make Pelosi appear drunk and incoherent.

A viral example of the video is visible here .

The clip is low quality and jerky, signs pointing toward it having been doctored. A quick search shows it stems from a May 20, 2020 news conference, visible on C-SPAN here .

At 18:08 minutes, Pelosi can be seen sipping water and proceeding to speak to the audience. Placing the C-SPAN video and the Facebook side by side, it is clear that the latter has been significantly slowed down.

The manipulated video is reminiscent of another viral video which was also slowed down to make the Speaker sound drunk. This example was tackled in Reuters Manipulated Media course, visible here .

The Washington Post and The Guardian , among other outlets, wrote about this viral slowed down video at the time of its circulation in May 2019.

The last few years of health care debates have made clear how deep and lasting an impact policy decisions can have on the health of a nation and on the people and institutions delivering care.

What Would This Bill Actually Do

As often discussed in the Trump era, Section 4 of the 25th Amendment lets the vice president and a majority of Cabinet secretaries temporarily deprive the president of his powers, if they declare his inability to serve in office. The amendment does not define what inability entails, but it has often been discussed in terms of physical incapacitation, dementia, or even just erraticism.

However, the 25th Amendment says it doesnt necessarily have to be the Cabinet that makes the call on presidential inability. It says that the vice president can also work with some other body as Congress may by law provide to deem the president unfit and take over his powers.

But Congress never ended up creating this other body. So thats what this bill from Rep. Raskin would do: It would create the Commission on Presidential Capacity to Discharge the Powers and Duties of the Office.

Per Raskins bill, this commission would have 17 members. Nine of those members would have to be physicians, and at least four of those nine must specialize in psychiatry. The other eight members will be former high-ranking executive branch officials .

As for who picks them, Democratic congressional leaders get to fill eight of the seats, and Republican congressional leaders get to fill the other eight. Then, somehow, a majority of those 16 appointees must pick the final appointee, who will be the commissions chair.
